A slightly longer than normal class aimed at teaching you and your dog how to complete certain exercises which enhance good manners, control and your relationship. The classes will also help you to understand your dog’s behaviour and teach him/her to be a socially acceptable ambassador of the dog world.
The excercises taught will be based on the dog/handler teams attending but will include: walking under comfortably on and off lead, coming when called, behaviour around people and strange dogs, doorway control, health examination (by handler and/or 'stranger'), basic scent, basic retrieve, car safety, leaving distractions, target training and basic tricks are some of the areas covered in this class.
The syllabus will aim to cover all elements of the APDT Beginner, Foundation, Progress and Jubilee Awards, with assessments held periodically (assessments are not compulsory).
We will also cover elements of trick dog training and information regarding applying for Trick Dog Awards can be provided.
This class is not suitable for dogs with any reactivity towards other dogs. It is aimed at exisiting clients, however suitable new dogs with class experience may be accepted.
Class numbers are strictly limited. Government guidance regarding Covid-19 and social distancing measures will be in place.
Ensure you bring your own chair, drink, water, water bowl, hand soap, towel, wipes, mask and gloves if required. A toilet may available for emergencies or those travelling long distances to attend but you will be responsible for wiping down all handles, taps, etc after use.
